Rachel Nolan’s Story


My Story:

I am originally from Zimbabwe but now I reside in Johannesburg. I tested positive on the 6thof June 2002. A day I will never forget.

I was so confident the results were going to be negative as I had been with only one man after my son’s father left me. I always used to go for tests so that’s how I knew I was negative. I broke down and cried so much but the Counselor was so supportive and loving. The firstperson I told was my driver. He was so understanding and told me all will be well. I was still an emotional wreck. I then told my mum who took it badly and cried as well. But she never judged or rejected me. She stood by my side, encouraged me to fight to live longer and to think of my son.
